Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix : movie review by me!

I watched it yesterday. Like any normal person, I was very excited because of all the hype. But as we got more into the movie, I started realizing that they took out loads of parts, and at times also modifying the storyline... I like Harry Potter 5 just the way the book tells it, but the movie just felt like a really long trailer... a bit disappointing really but I'm sure J.K. Rowling will lift my spirits with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I hope no one on the good side dies... but some does don't they?

I have been assigned to do a debate on gay marriage. And I am arguing that gay marriage is negative. I can't find a whole lot of good reasons to support us. Only the Bible says it's bad and stuff but some would say "Says who? the Bible? Oh that's just a book thats thousands of years old!" I personally am Christian so I am against gays...but I'm the only one in the negative gay marriage group against it. I need some real good reasons to impress Mr. S this time...

I saw a Lacie 250GB Porsche harddrive for $130. I'm not quite sure if I should get it or not. It'll be useful, but then again, there are many other things I would like to get...

Here's a mini wish-list:

Computer Upgrades

1. A new power supply. (around 600 - 1000 Watts with Sli ready would be nice!)

2. More memory!!! (I had a 512mb stick of Kingston but it got corrupted so the guys switched it for a stick of 512mb Buffalo. Which one is the better one I do not know...but Kingston is probably more trusted. I'd like another stick of 512mb so I can configure the memory as dual channel memory which will help Photoshop CS2 run much faster, and games too...!)

3. Another 80GB Seagate Barracuda SATA II HD (I've used the one I currently own for about 1 year and it's only got about 28GB left... I'd like to try putting it into a RAID array.)

4. Better GPU?

5. DVD burner...

7. 20-26" LCD TV

8. Adobe Creative Suites 3 Master Collection

9. Old Linux/Windows server computer

10. And don' forget the Lacie harddrive...

EDIT: I saw another Lacie hard drive going for around $140 and it's 320Gb! I'm not sure if I should get Firewire or USB 2.0 though... I know Firewire is a lot faster but not all computers have Firewire ports.

Wow! I haven't posted in a loooooooooooooooooong time. Music retreat wasn't so awesome because I had to share a room with alex and kevin - two gumballs that don't know when to wake up. Alex is supposed to be 'on a diet'. But the thing is, he brought two cans of chips, some chewy bar things, and a whole box of kool-aid, eating all the food and drinking around half the juice. Can you believe that?!?! "I'm on a diet. I'm on a diet! IM ON A DIET!!!". lol. Nways, my computer's mobo is dead or corrupted or something in that region so I wouldn't be going on my own computer for around 4-6 weeks until a new mobo is shipped from ASUSTek. This shucks. nvm it's getting late...and I should be going to bed. Die now, all bad things in my life! Die, twinkle-toed essays from Mr. *************!!! I shall *pwn* (no im not a nerd) those essays! hahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I am an evil genius. Clare are you reading this?

I got screwed when my language essay sucked. (hey, it's like jumping from gr. 5 to gr. 8 since I didn't learn anything from my gr. 6 teacher, I'm in a split class now with gr. 8's doing the work!) phew. I suck at essays... I have to confess that I plagiarized but I've just finished a new version that hopefully doesn't plagiarize or isn't 'too good to be true'. Today we played snow soccer instead of gym because of the election for an MP dude to go to Queens Park and represent us. My teacher (the same teacher who criticized me of plagiarizing) actually encouraged me to tackle people! I was out of breath by the end of the period, but had a great sense of satisfaction.

Skiing Part 1

Was, like last year, moderately (although I want to say mediocre fun) fun. I had to take a tutorial that lasted the whole morning. Then as I was waiting in line to get tested and see if I would qualify for a green sticker, I started getting nervous, and that was probably what made me mess up. When I went, I missed a couple of pylons, and I thought 'no biggy!'. But I was soon proved wrong. I learned that you had to go around all the triangular pylons. After I had missed a few pylons and was talking to myself, I lost control and fell. Then this instructor guy in blue came over to help me. 'Yo homie! stomp your foot down on the ski! Tsk tsk tsk. If you fall down again I'm not helping you up again! Tsk tsk,' was the talking to that I got from him. Hehe. Even though he was impatient, there was always the nice guy who taught us some of the basics. Aw he was much nicer than that other bag of potatoes. 'Doing Great! Doing Great!,' was some of the stuff he said. Ah well never mind, these are just the rantings and raves of a little short tiny puny kid.

I was reading in an issue of Personal Computer World, and in the news section, there was an article about the new Microsoft Zune. Apparently, Zune in French slang means the male appendage, which is quite disgusting. "Oh hi Bob! nice zune you got there. Hey look! That girl has a zune too!"

Moving along now. It's a ski trip tomorrow that my school's going on. This time I'm going to ski. Last year I didn't have much fun with the snowboard because I kept falling over on my buttocks. Bunny hill, here I come!

LEFT: A MacBook laptop at school. I think this one's #7. We just got new ones that actually have fast processors! The ones like the one pictured here have traditional Mac processors while the new ones each contain an Intel Core 2 Duo (I think). The new processors are monsters compared to its predecessors.
